The artist on his 32nd birthday.

I grew up in Simi Valley, California, but I live in the beautiful mountains of Utah with my wife and 2 kids. I believe in always smelling good and always being as polite as possible. From the moment I could hold a crayon I learned that making pretty pictures = making people smile and this is what I still try to accomplish with each of my drawings.

Education

I graduated summa cum laude from Utah Valley University with a bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Communications. I loved every minute of school and hope to never stop learning! It was there that I learned about Mary Blair–a visionary artist who completely changed my ideas about art.

Career

Professionally, I have a colorful past as a PHP developer, product manager, and creative director. I’ve worked on projects with NBC, IBM, and JC Penney to name a few of the biggies.

Straight out of college, I started a company, BAM POP!, as a creative outlet for myself. We focus on manufacturing arts and crafts supplies for kids of all ages. Our home-grown “night job” business has amazingly grown to distribution in over 100 retail stores and boutiques in 15 countries.

Comics

Ever since I was little, one of my most heartfelt pursuits is to make comic books. In 2010, I started a webcomic, LOST in Comics, to help cultivate my drawing and writing skills. My comics have been featured on io9, Comics Alliance, and USAToday!

Being a comic that satirizes the television show LOST and other pop culture tropes like Star Wars, eventually my work caught the attention of ABC and LucasFilm. Since then, I’ve hobnobbed with the creators of LOST and even helped them out with a Comic-Con panel. Many of the cast and crew have reached out to let me know that my prints have been welcomed into their hearts and homes–an honor I never dreamed possible.

In Print

My patterns and character designs have been featured in a number of craft and scrapbooking publications including Better Homes & Gardens, Scrapbooking and Beyond, Creating Keepsakes, Print & Pattern, and Design Sponge, as well as some notable design books:

Hire Me

I would be thrilled to make use of my illustration and digital media skills to work with you in bringing something new and wonderful into the world. I’m seeking freelance work with preference for all-ages comics projects–covers or sequentials, but I’m no snob. I will happily illustrate the cover of your kitty litter package.
